High Winds Expected Friday
Santa Anas will produce gusts of 35 miles per hour or more in the mountains.
High pressure will build into the Great Basin tonight, producing"a moderate Santa Ana wind event" in the Southland on Friday and prompting wind advisories in mountain and valley areas, according to the National Weather Service.
"The winds will diminish Friday afternoon but may pick back up to advisory levels again Saturday morning," an NWS advisory said.
A wind advisory, indicating that winds of 35 miles per hour or greater are expected, will be in effect from 10 tonight until 3 Friday afternoon in the San Gabriel and Santa Monica mountains and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.
Mountain areas could experience 50-mph gusts, according to the NWS, which urged drivers to use caution in high winds, especially when operating high-profile vehicles.
