Huey's Characterization of Venice Is Reason Not to Vote for Him
The Republican congressional candidate refers to a forum crowd as "fearsome," leading me to think he is running against Venice, not for it.
Those of us who attended the congressional candidates forum in Venice in April saw a lively discussion.
Tea party candidate and election finalist Craig Huey was briefly booed at a couple of points during the evening, while talking about his positions and supporters.
Huey saw it differently.
“Hundreds of people hissed and booed me when I stood up and supported the nation of Israel. When I gave my opening remarks, I began to be booed. In fact, every time I answered questions, audience members hissed, booed and shouted,” he wrote on his website.
“But when the subject eventually turned to Israel, an angry crowd turned into something far uglier and fearsome. … My answer ignited something terrible in the crowd. I truly expected this mob of angry liberals to start throwing things at me. Even those opposed to me were worried for my safety and the safety of my wife, Shelly.”
Huey posted his account, and then asked for funds.
"That’s why I am asking for your help to get our message out—even in the midst of such violent opposition," he said.
But the event simply didn’t happen that way.
Venice local and self-described member of the "GOP folks," Todd von Hoffmann, commented on an article I wrote for Patch that “Craig Huey received some boos when he introduced himself, but these were when he unabashedly mentioned support from Tom McClintock and local tea party groups. The crowd was well controlled by the moderator, and he was good natured about it.”
How can we even consider a candidate who ignores the facts in favor of stirring up anger against Venice voters to raise funds? If Huey does slip into Congress because not enough of us vote July 12, we have only ourselves to blame.

Huey would not even respond to several invitations from Concerned Residents Against Airport Pollution to discuss Santa Monica Airport and its effects on the 36th District. He is not interested in representing District 36 constituents. The voters of all party affiliations should send out a strong message that this is not what we are looking for in a Congressional representative, by voting for Janice Hahn and giving her a victory with a huge margin.

Maybe there was some exaggeration on his part but is that really enough to vote for someone else? Do intelligent people vote for a candidate or against a candidate? Which demonstrates emotional and logical voting. What is he for? What is his opponents for? That should be the criterion for voting. Speaking of exaggeration whatever happened to the candidate who exaggerated when he said he'd shut down Gitmo, he'd bring the troops home in 16 months, he'd have unemployment down to 8% ? If exaggeration is your criterion for voting against a candidate I expect we will have a Republican back in the White House come 2012, because the guy we got now is a master exaggerator.

I attended the forum - nothing vaguely resembling what Craig Huey described ever occured. Are we to also believe him when he says he had nothing to do with the horrible video that was just released?
