Know It Now: Beechwood Not Closing, Schnabel Vacates Venice

This, the last full week of August, is forecast to be bright and sunny in Venice, with highs around 77 degrees every day.

Despite a report last week in EaterLA, local hotspot Beechwood is not set to close for any amount of time, according to a Tweet the restaurant sent over the weekend. "Contrary to reports, we are OPEN w/ no set plans to close. Roy Choi developed our current menu & will eventually lead a new concept for us," @beechwoodvenice said. Draw your own conclusions about what "no set plans" means, but it at least look like the menu/concept of the restaurant is "set" to change.

Former KCRW music director Tom Schnabel sold his Venice home, the Los Angeles Times reports. The 3,030 square foot home had a wine cellar, a roofdeck, two bedrooms and three bathrooms. Avid listeners of KCRW will recall that the home is where Schnabel used to hold his Focus Salons, high-end music appreciation sessions. No word on where the salons will happen now, if they continue.

has announced two new job openings. The non-profit, whose mission is "to ignite youths' imagination, mentor their creativity, and expand their sense of possibility through high quality, accessible media-based arts education programs," is looking for a media arts assistant and a lead artist for digital animation.
