From a Venice High Sophomore: Life If You're Not in the Magnet
I’m a student at Venice High School. I am a 10th grader. So far the 2 years I have been there I’ve seen much gang violence. The bathrooms are nasty. Graffiti is everywhere. I see a lot of people drinking and smoking in class. Sometimes teachers don’t care and they tell us, “I don’t care whether you’re here or not, whether you pass or don’t, I get paid.” They put movies in and expect us to know even when the movie has nothing to do with the subject that they’re teaching. Most teachers give a worksheet, sit at their desk, and to google they go. Some talk in class with their phones. Teachers at Venice don’t care about the students. They just want to get paid.
