Today in Venice-Mar Vista: Venice Film Fest, Celebrate Art, Antiques, Symphonic Sounds

Here are five things for your Thursday and beyond in Venice-Mar Vista:  

1. The 10th Annual Other Venice Film Festival opens Friday and ends with an awards program at Beyond Baroque Sunday, according to the online website for the fest. The program of films is here.
2. The Mart Collective, open since August, will hold a grand opening this weekend. Owned by former managers of Wertz Brothers Antique Mart, The Mart Collective features some 45 showcases and 65 booths from vendors who offer all sorts of antiques and finds.
3. The Venice Symphony Orchestra will perform at Bergamot Station Saturday. Details here.
4. The following Saturday, Oct. 19, the Mar Vista Fall Festival will be held at the Mar Vista Recreation Center, 11430 Woodbine St., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The theme for the Oct. 19 event will be “Celebrating the Arts." More details here.
