Help Save Our Oceans, This Sunday at the Mar Vista Farmer's Market

Join ocean activist, Andy Shrader, THIS SUNDAY at Mar Vista Farmer's Market. Call State Legislators on-the-spot to vote YES on a statewide ban on plastic bags and Styrofoam food containers.

All politics is local.  How many times have you heard that?  But how can you have a voice in your state government when Sacramento is so far away?  How can you have an impact on the rapidly-deteriorating state of our oceans?  Besides bringing your own bag and bottle, how can you really help address the problem of plastic debris?

Join marine debris activist, Andy Shrader, this weekend at the Green Tent to find out about two state bills whose passage is essential to the health of our oceans: a statewide ban on plastic bags and a statewide ban on polystyrene food containers (aka, Styrofoam).

THIS SUNDAY AT THE MAR VISTA FARMER’S MARKET

Bring your cell phone and, on the spot...

Call your State Assemblymember Holly Mitchell, Betsy Butler or Steven Bradford and leave a message with your address, asking him or her to vote YES on SB-568 (Lowenthal) (Styrofoam ban).

And call your State Senator Ted Lieu or Curren Price, and leave him a message with your address, asking him to vote YES on AB-298 (Brownley) (plastic bag ban).

Your State Assemblymembers and Senators really do pay attention to your phone calls.

Massive public support has helped us ban the bag in Los Angeles, in Glendale, in Pasadena, in Long Beach, in Manhattan Beach... 100 local jurisdictions have banned the bag in California...

Massive public support has helped us ban the foam in Santa Monica, LA County, West Hollywood, Hermosa Beach... 61 local jurisdictions have banned the foam in California...

Let’s do the whole state and have a massive impact on the health of our oceans.

With your help and positive advocacy on behalf of our oceans, there is always hope!

See you Sunday!

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.

Thank you, David, for your lucid and edifying dissertation on Passover. You just about said itRead More all...I would only add that if people get a chance during the holiday to view the movie version of Fiddler On The Roof they will get a truly inspiring feeling for what it meant - and means - to be Jewish.
