Petition Hopes to Maintain Venice Elementary Mandarin Immersion Program

The Los Angeles Unified School District may move a Mandarin immersion program from Broadway Elementary School in Venice and upset parents have filed a petition to keep the program.

View the petition here.

"By moving the program, you displace many local Venice families who believed that Broadway's Mandarin Immersion school would be their local school," the petition to LAUSD Board Member Steve Zimmer states.

Broadway Elementary is located at 1015 Lincoln Blvd. The building opened in 1926 and it now teaches over 260 students with 15 teachers and faculty.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
