Bill Rosendahl endorsed Wendy Greuel for Mayor!

West LA Councilman Bill Rosendahl Chooses Greuel for Mayor!

Today, Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel announced support from Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, garnering another key endorsement for her Mayoral bid.

Rosendahl represents L.A.’s 11th Council District, which covers neighborhoods including Mar Vista, Venice, Playa del Rey, Marina Del Rey, and large sections of Del Rey, Playa Vista, and West Los Angeles.

“Wendy Greuel is smart, levelheaded, and candid—all critical assets that we’ll need in our next Mayor,” said Councilmember Rosendahl. “In these tough financial times, her savvy experience as Controller and as a small businesswoman will help her tackle our city’s problems head-on. As Mayor, I know she’ll work to bring LA back to fiscal solvency. Her priorities are right on track: protecting workers, cutting costs where possible, and enhancing our business climate so that we can create morejobs and grow our middle class. She has my full support.”

“Councilmember Rosendahl has served as an inspiration for so many Angelenos,” said Controller Greuel. “He’s been a true champion on the Council and has fought for bold reforms, a clean environment, transparency in government, and the modernization of LAX airport. He is a close friend and I am truly honored to count him on my team.”

Today’s endorsement comes on the heels of yesterday’s announcement that Greuel raised a sizable $2.8 million for the Primary Election.

Beyond fundraising, the Greuel campaign has seen a surge in momentum from recent endorsements, including former Assembly Speaker Bob Hertzberg, civil rights and labor icon Dolores Huerta, and civil rights trailblazer John Mack. This powerful trio will play a policy and leadership role in her campaign.

In recent weeks Greuel has also earned the support of State Assemblywomen Bonnie Lowenthal, Betsy Butler, and Nancy Skinner; along with State Senator Fran Pavley; and a host of leading conservationists, available here.

Significantly, Greuel is leading the field of candidates in the race for critical labor endorsements, and has already won early endorsements from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts (IATSE), Utility Workers Union of America Local 132, United Steel Workers (USW), Transportation Communications Union (TCU) Local 1315, Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 1277, and the Operating Engineers Local 501.

In addition, recently the Greuel for Mayor campaign revealed the ‘Valley Leaders with Wendy’ committee. The full list of committee members, available here, encompasses a diverse range of local Valley leaders, including small business leaders, neighborhood council members, students, grassroots activists, community organizers, as well as a wide-ranging list of respected professionals.

The campaign also recently announced the launch of the ‘Women with Wendy’ committee, which is comprised of community leaders, grassroots activists, professionals, students, and small business owners. The full list of the committee is available here.
