A Few Words From Your (Not So) New Editor

Hi Venice-Mar Vista Patch,

As you may have noticed, along with the new Patch redesign comes a new editor. That new (or not so new) editor is me. I am also still the editor of Culver City Patch.  

I know I am very familiar to some of you because I launched the original Mar Vista Patch site when I joined the company in 2010. That was in the days when Mar Vista and Venice Patch were two separate sites.  

I moved on to Culver City Patch shortly before Venice and Mar Vista merged, but have always remained engaged in the Mar Vista community. And now I’m back!  

Venice and Mar Vista share many things in common – not least of which is the obvious fact that they are both in Council District 11. It has been a real pleasure to get to know Bill Rosendahl and now Mike Bonin.  

In addition, many of the students who graduate Mar Vista elementary schools head to Venice High school and both Mar Vista and Venice fall under the same LAUSD district.  

But of course, they are both very different in many ways, and while I have come to know many of the wonderful people and events in Mar Vista thanks to spending a year exclusively covering the community, I’m also excited to learn more about Venice. And it’s always great to cover a beach community.

I’m also easy to spot out and about in the community. Just look for whoever happens to be walking alongside a rambunctious 2.5 year-old Golden Retriever named Bronte.

Bronte helped launch Mar Vista Patch with me when she was just 8 weeks old, so she knows the ropes too. She also has an excellent nose for a good story, especially if that story is accompanied by food.
