A Reading Club, Art Reception and Other Things to Do This Week

Here are some of the events in Venice this week.

There is just too much going on in Venice to offer only a weekend planner. Around here, you can get out every day and find something new and interesting to do. Here are some of the events in store for Venetians this first week of April, 2011.

Tuesday: Marshall McLuhan Finnegans Wake Reading Club is held on the first Tuesday of the month is lead by Venice Resident, independent filmmaker/historian, Gerry Fialka. Two pages of James Joyce's Finnegan's Wake are read at each meeting.  Recommended for adults. Free. 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Marina del Rey Library, 4533 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey.

Wednesday: is offering 5% Day in Support of A Window Between Worlds. Help support local non-profit "A Window Between Worlds". Five percent of all proceeds on Wednesday will go to support this wonderful Venice organization that helps to combat domestic violence. Make this the day that you do your shopping & help make a difference! Buy groceries, get a 5 percent discount. 7 a.m. to close. Whole Foods Market Venice, 225 Lincoln Blvd.

Wednesday: presents Pan Dulce. Every Wednesday expect great live music at Danny's. This is a casual restaurant bar where you can hang out, buy a drink or order food – but there's no pressure to order anything. Music generally ends around 9 p.m. and the place is open until 10 p.m.. Get there early for great happy hour prices from 4 to 7 p.m.. This is where both locals and tourists hangout. Recommeded for adults in the evening, however, this is a family-friendly place, and the scene is appropriate for kids (though the earlier hours are better). Free. Danny's Deli, 23 Windward Ave.

Thursday, April 7, Conservation International hosts a reception at . The reception celebrates CI's latest exhibit, "Essence of Life: Fresh Water." The event is recommeded for all ages, and the $5 admission at the door directly supports environmental charities. An RSVP is required to: events@theg2gallery.com. 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The G2 Gallery, 1503 Abbot Kinney Blvd.

Thursday, Whole Foods Market Venice is doing a Rainbow Light Bone IQ event. Go to the Whole Body department to get a free bone scan between 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Whole Foods Market Venice, 225 Lincoln Blvd.
