Arwash Workers, Faith Community, Students to Picket Lincoln Millenium Carwash in Venice

The demonstration will take place today – July 11 – from 12 – 1:30 p.m.

A year after a class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of carwasheros at Lincoln Millennium Carwash, workers, faith and community leaders, and students will be hand delivering letters in support of Lincoln Millenium workers to carwash management.

This will be followed by a picketing action at the carwash to support these workers who are standing up for better working conditions. The class action lawsuit alleges that the carwash frequently denied workers proper rest breaks and lunch, withheld pay for overtime and forced them to arrive to work early to work, but only clock in when there were enough cars to wash.

Local Clergy will be hand delivering letters to Lincoln Millennium Car Wash to ask management not to retaliate against workers who are fighting to improve conditions at the carwash.  Members of the Community Labor Environmental Action Network (CLEAN) Carwash Campaign, along with Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE Los Angeles) and college students will be picketing immediately afterward at Lincoln Millennium Carwash to stand in solidarity with workers.
