Still have no idea what to do this 'Carmageddon' weekend? Don't panic. Mar Vista Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our picks:

Where/When: 2920 Overland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90064 (Palms - Rancho Park Branch Library). Sat. July 16, 11 a.m.

Why Go: Channel your inner Zen qualities and head to the Palms - Rancho Park Branch Library for a great Chess Class with expert Brian Glover. Beginners and intermediate players, children and adults are welcome.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: 8758 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90034 (Helms Bakery District). Sat., July 16 and Sun., July 17. Begins: 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: Avoid Carmageddon and head to the  Eat Real Festival,   a celebration of all things tasty, handmade and fresh, with a focus on street food, local wines, handcrafted beers and traditional food craft, all featuring sustainable, local ingredients.

Pricing: Free entry. All dishes no more than $5 each. Cash only.

Where/When: , 3826 Grand View Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90066 (MVCC Green Tent at Pacific). Sun. July 17, 9 a.m-2 p.m.

Why Go: Meet Judi Lyall of She Builds Green and the folks from reDiscover to answer questions about the Energy Upgrade California and partner with them on the Energy Champions program. Learn how to make simple, yet efficient changes in your own home to save money and the planet.

Where/When: , 12249 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90066. Sun. July 17, 8 p.m.

Why Go:  Stay away from Carmageddon and enjoy DEFIB, the original electronic music show. The lineup includes: Kelly Divan, Ston3wall, Yosh-E, Digital Hippie, and Mark Kill. The Good Hurt also features pool tables, a multimedia show, go-go dancers, and free energy drinks.

Pricing: $10 cover. Must be over 21.

Why Go: Encourage your kids to be creative with the reDiscover Center's weekly art classes for the young and young-at-heart.
