Get Out: Patch's Pick-and-Choose Weekend Planner

It's an artsy weekend ahead with great music and poetry readings in and around Mar Vista.

It’s Thursday, and you still have no idea what to do this weekend. Don't panic. Mar Vista Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

 

Where/When: Good Hurt, 12249 Venice Blvd. Feb. 25, 8 pm-2 am

Why Go:  Come out for a great lineup of local music.  Lovers Drugs will headline with supporting acts from Phantom West, Animal Games and Attack Decay Release.  Have a drink and unwind from the work week to great rock music.

Where/When: 681 Venice Blvd, Venice. Feb. 25, 8 pm

Why Go:  World renowned musicians use the latest in music technology to bring you a great night of powerful music.  Ulrich Kreiger has recorded music with Lou Reed and John Cage.  Scott Collins is a guitarist who has toured the world wowing audiences with his unique sounds.  The third performer for the night, Mark Trayle, expands the limits of music technology.  Come out and see what these three talented musicians have in store for you.

Pricing: Special Admission: $10.00/ $5.00 for seniors and students, Beyond Baroque members FREE.

Where/When: 681 Venice Blvd, Venice. (Beyond Baroque), Feb. 27, 7:30 pm

Why Go: It’s a night of all female writers reading from their poetry, fiction and non-fiction.  Writers in appearance are Jeannine Hall Grey, Conseulo Flores, Ramona Pilar Gonzales, and Angela Brommel.

Pricing: $7, students/seniors/children $5, members FREE. Street parking.

Where/When: , 12255 Venice Blvd. Feb. 25, 8 pm

Why Go: Bikerowave is a bicycle repair collective that teaches the community how to take care of their bikes.  They promote bike riding so you can lower your carbon footprint.  On Friday, they will be celebrating their four year anniversary.  Come out and enjoy  dancing, DJ’s, a photo booth and of course bikes.

Where/When: Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center, 13325 Beach Ave, Marina Del Rey, Feb. 26, 1-5 pm

Why Go: Come learn about the art of Sacred of Geometry.  Learn  from the great Rajeshwari how coloring and drawing the geometrical Yantra diagrams, based on the mathematical perfection of sages of the East, Westerners can make both their hemispheres work simultaneously and calmly, achieve faith and live in constant awareness.
