Happy Cinco de Mayo! Plus Music, Open Mic & Film Shorts

The weather is good and only getting better. The days are long and only getting longer. If you haven't gotten used to going out during the week yet, this week is the time to get going! Cinco de Mayo – a well known excuse for margaritas and cervezas – is on Thursday, but there are lots of other things going on this week, as well.

Wednesday, Miss Jessica and The Sugar Shack Attack will be serving up some Jazz A Matazz, GoodTimes R&B and some Tasty Funk n' Stuff at . Miss Jessica has a sexy, sultry voice and knows how to get the crowd going,  and her boys can play some groovin' tunes. It's Open Mic Night at The Talking Stick on Wednesday. Signup is at 6:30 p.m. The evening is hosted by Byron and Tom and goes from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. 1411 Lincoln Blvd. Free parking in front and back.

On Thursday: Happy Cinco de Mayo! Starting out at , during the day, treats & eats will be available at the store from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They will also be serving Mexican beer at the winebar (although that you have to pay for...). 225 Lincoln Blvd.

At Baja Cantina, there will be a real celebration! This Venice institution, known for it's nice outdoor patio and free chips n' salsa, will be celebrating from 11 a.m. until close. (And though the zip code says Marina del Rey, Venetians know this is a Venice hangout.) 311 Washington Blvd.

Another way to spend Cinco de Mayo is at for "An Evening with Larry Hankin & His Comedy Film Shorts" (you know him from "Seinfeld", "Friends", "Billy Madison", "Breaking Bad") from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. 1411 Lincoln Blvd.
