Mar Vista Park Candlelight Vigil For Connecticut Victims Saturday

The event will be hosted by Candles Across America and will be held this Sat. Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. at the corner of Palms Boulevard and McLaughlin Avenue.

Candles Across America will host candlelight vigils and memorials across the country for the victims of Newtown, this Sat. Dec. 22 at 5 p.m.

Mar Vista will be among the communities participating, with its own vigil at Mar Vista Park at the corner of Palms Boulevard and McLaughlin Avenue.

Those wishing to attend are asked to bring their own candle and Dixie cups will be provided. In addition, you can also bring a stuffed animal and/or a card, which will be sent to students at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Singer Darean Davis will perform songs during the vigil – including “Amazing Grace” which has been adopted by many communities in the wake of the tragedy. One of the children who died was Grace McDonnell.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring guitars and participate in the musical portion of the evening.

One of the Mar Vista organizers – Mia Duncans – told Patch the Harley Davidson Chicano Riders would also attend the event.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.

Thank you, David, for your lucid and edifying dissertation on Passover. You just about said itRead More all...I would only add that if people get a chance during the holiday to view the movie version of Fiddler On The Roof they will get a truly inspiring feeling for what it meant - and means - to be Jewish.
