Mar Vista Ranks No. 35 on 'Walkability' Among California Cities

A pedestrian friendliness evaluation by Walk Score gives the area good marks based on proximity to amenities.

The rankings are in, and Mar Vista has been listed as the 35th most walkable neighborhood in California, tying with Canoga Park.

According to a study by Walk Score, Mar Vista’s ranking is 4 points higher than Los Angeles’ walk score of 66.

Mar Vista was deemed "somewhat walkable" with an average Walk Score of 70, according to the evaluation. Mar Vista has a population of 38,902.

Canoga Park, which has a population of 77,793, also received a Walk Score of 70.

West Hollywood ranked No. 1 among California cities. It has a population of 32,963.

The evaluation is based on an algorithm that factors the distance of individual addresses to nearby amenities. The study defines city boundaries according to Zillow.com and weights the score giving consideration to population density based on data from the 2010 U.S. Census.
