Rejuvenate Yourself into Fall This Week

Check out some of these local events for the week.

As summer turns into fall, this week offers some amazing opportunities for personal transformation of mind, body and spirit.

On Tuesday night, there is a screening of "You Can Heal Your Life," a fim about Louise Hay, at at 7 p.m. to honor the best-selling author's 85th birthday. Donations are welcome and will go to the Hay Foundation, established in 1986, which funds a number of charitable organizations.

There will be a board meeting of the Venice Neighborhood Council Tuesday evening at 7 at Westminster Avenue Elementary School. More on that .

If that meeting isn't enough, another opportunity to participate in community government will be Wednesday during the VNC's Land Use and Planning Committee Meeting at 6:45 p.m. at the .

Over in Mar Vista, there will be a Green Business Mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Venice Grind Coffee, just a hop, skip, and a jump (or  bike-ride) from Venice at 12224 Venice Blvd. just east of Centinela. The free event is on the patio in back of the cafe and is a forum for neighborhood businesses and professionals to network and discuss local green initiatives. The mixer is organized by Open Neighborhoods and the Sierra Club/LA Beyond Coal. Click here to RSVP and for more details.

Another event to round out Wednesday evening is MOM, (Meditations on Media) from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at . Gerry Fialka provides an interesting and open forum for discussion of all kinds of media at this free event.

As part of National Yoga Month, celebrated throughout September, Exhale Spa is participating in "NamasDay."  Sign up online to take a free yoga class at and continue a transformative week. Classes are from an hour to 1 hour and a half. There is also a free "Zen Dancing Evening" from 7:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. with live music and performers organized by Micheline Berry. This is a rare opportunity to  join this popular event that comes occasionally to this area.
