Residents Give the Thumbs Up to Rec Center Improvements
Locals are out in force taking advantage of the recently installed jogging track and outdoor exercise equipment at the Mar Vista Recreation Center.
Patch spoke with Jerry Hornof, Co-Chair of the Mar Vista Community Council Recreation and Open Space Enhancement Committee, about some of the planning and implementation involved in the placement of the new jogging track and exercise equipment.
While we were there, we couldn't help but interrupt residents' workout sessions to get their opinions. Apart from one jogger who wished the track had been extended around the entire perimeter of the park, everyone else loved the new amenities.
At a cost of about $600,277 and 9 months of construction, the Mar Vista Recreation Center added new fencing around the soccer field, irrigation improvements, a new jogging path and weather-resistent exercise equipment.
