This week, it's all about getting your groove on for cheap, or even free.
Miss Jessica and the Sugarshack Attack put on a must-see show at on Wednesday from 7-10 p.m. Miss Jessica shimmies and shakes to her sweet and sultry vocals, backed with most of the Gumbo Bros. band, who add a New Orleans twist to the music. Miss Jessica sings her heart out, and you get more than your money's worth because the show is free! Check out the happy hour before the show from 4-7 p.m.
Venice producer Linda Shusett offers a free staged reading of the award winning musical Rocket Science on Wednesday and Thursday at 8 p.m. in Hollywood. The musical centers on teenager Hal Hefner, who has a stuttering problem. He gets a little help from the "queen" of the high school debate team. The reading is at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre at 4800 Hollywood Blvd. (within Barnsdall Art Park). Yes, that's a trek, but it's worth it. Also, there is free parking. Want to stay a little closer? You can find a great happy hour on the boardwalk at the award-winning . It's been around since 1978, which is an indication of just how good it is! Dine outdoors on the patio with a great view of the beach and boardwalk or inside for a quieter experience. Happy hour is from 4 until close (usually 8 p.m.) on weekdays with drink and food specials from generally $3 to $5. Try the sangria for a nice summer drink to sip while enjoying the colorful scene down at the beach.
