Skaters Gather to Raise Awareness about How to Help the Homeless

Venice skaters help gather signatures for homeless petition at weekend event.

The Venice Beach Skate Dance Association kicked up their heels to show their support for helping the homeless.

The event, the Skate Boogie Dance Show, was held in Venice on Saturday, to raise awareness of the National Plan to End Homelessness.

"It was a very high energy, heartfelt, spirited show," said Pamela Pine, the association's vice president.

Homeless activist Ted Hayes worked with Pine and the association to launch a campaign for a petition at the event. The petition is aimed at President Obama, seeking his leadership to help end homelessness by helping create jobs for the homeless.

"We are most grateful to Pamela Pine and the Venice Beach Skate Dance Association, who in partnership with the Honorable L.A. City Councilman, Bill Rosendahl, afforded us the opportunity to launch the petition campaign, and recruit participants to help make it viral on social media networks via the Venice Beach Skate Boogie-Dance Show for the National Homeless Plan," Hayes said.
