Venice and Mar Vista in the Same Patch

Venice and Mar Vista news and resources now in one Patch.

We're happy to announce that we've harnessed our resources to more effectively cover both the Venice and Mar Vista communities - introducing Venice and Mar Vista under one Patch.com.

It makes more sense to our readers and our local small business owners to offer coverage that extends into Venice and Mar Vista, doesn't it? So much of the information we were offering was of interest to residents of both communities; having it all in one place will make it easier for you to keep up with all the goings-on, without flipping back and forth between sites.

Here are some of the exciting benefits this will bring to both communities:

  • All of the businesses will be part of our extensive community directory, called Patch Places. Business owners will continue to be invited to claim their listing - and readers will have a comprehensive resource for finding every business in Venice and Mar Vista.
  • We already are covering Venice and Mar Vista breaking news, schools and sports. This will allow us to expand that coverage and invite residents to add their own voices to the discussion through comments, Announcements, Events and photos in our Neighborhood Gallery.
  • We’ll bring you regular coverage of the issues and events close to home. We’ve already started doing that, with coverage of schools that serve both Mar Vista and Venice, as well as homeless issues common to Los Angeles City Council District 11 and environmental stories.

We're excited about being able to provide better coverage of the things that matter to residents of both communities - which is always something we’re striving to do. But as always, if you think we're missing anything, let us know.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
