Venice Artist Shows Ugly Side of Africa's Gun Culture in Vibrant Photographs

Ralph Ziman photographed African street vendors holding brightly adorned replica guns to show the ugly contrast of the gun trade in Africa.

Venice-based South African artist Ralph Ziman’s new exhibit, Ghosts, opening in Abbot Kinney, is a critique of Africa’s gun culture, the Huffington Post reports.

Ziman photographed Zimbabwean street vendors holding replica AK-47s adorned with Shona-style beading to create photographs with vibrant colors that shine a light on the international arms trade that is dominating the continent, according to the Post.

"Ghosts" will be on exhibit from Feb. 8 to March 2 at C.A.V.E. Gallery, 1108 Abbot Kinney Blvd.
