Venice Beach was the seventh most filmed location in Los Angeles County in 2012, according to a film, television, commercial and music shooting locations analysis.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the Bird Sanctuary area in the 4,210-acre Griffith Park is the most filmed. The park alone generated 409 production days, including visits by "Southland" and "Sons of Anarchy."
Although Venice Beach ranked second place in 2011, it dropped to seventh in 2012 with 130 production days, below Dockweiler Beach and Point Dume State Beach, 159 and 163 production days, respectively.
The Times reports that Griffith Park is one of eight publicly-owned places on the list compiled by Film L.A. Inc., the quasi-public agency that issues filming permits.
Other locations include, the Sixth Street Bridge (5), Linda Vista Community Hospital (4) and Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades (8).
A designer to reimagine the iconic Sixth Street Bridge downtown was awarded this fall.
It will be interesting to see if the bridge, featured in "Grease," a recent Green Day video and many other productions, remains popular after the redo.
