Video: Rosendahl, Greuel, Shine the Spotlight on Mar Vista Pride

At the Mar Vista Fall Festival on Saturday, the local councilman and the city controller had nothing but great things to say about the local community council and the neighborhood residents.

Flanked by Mar Vista Farmers' Market honoree , and City Controller Wendy Greuel, 11th District Councilman Bill Rosendahl took time out to recognize the efforts of the Mar Vista Community Council, the volunteers and the residents that came out to make Saturday's a huge success.

"The Mar Vista neighborhood council is one of the finest ones in the city, folks," Rosendahl said. "There's 90 neighborhood councils and right here you've got the best." He even gave a quick shout to Mar Vista Patch. (Listen to Rosendahl's entire address in the video above).

Following his address, Rosendah also took a brief moment to introduce Greuel, who has announced her bid to run for mayor of Los Angeles in 2012.

"She's disciplined, she's focused, she's honest, she's hard working," Rosendahl said. However, he stopped short of lending his support for her bid, saying he wasn't going to pick a candidate.

"I can't, because I'm up for re-election myself," he said.  However, he added, "If she became mayor, not only would she be the first woman mayor, but she'd be a terrific mayor."

Greuel had only good words for Rosendahl, saying he "makes a real difference in the community." She too praised Patch saying, "A special shout out to Patch, which is all over the city and as controller, and as a candidate they really make sure the public knows what is happening."

But the focus of the day was definitely on Mar Vista and its residents.

"Mar Vista is an incredible place," Greuel said. "I've enjoyed coming here and speaking to the community council and I want to thank you for your leadership and making sure that this festival continued; and being a partner with the city of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks and that's what it's all about to make our city better and to work together...I'm just happy to be here at this wonderful festival with families out together enjoying this beautiful day and this beautiful park."
