Viewfinder: Smart Parking Meters Finally Come to Mar Vista

As promised, LADOT finally replaced the old coin only parking meters Monday with new credit card (and coin)-operated machines.

Two weeks ago, Mar Vista Patch reported that the Los Angeles Department of Transportation was set to replace the neighborhood's that will also accept credit cards.

While LADOT initially stated that the new meters would be in place by April 8, the transfer didn't in fact take place until  March 18. However, Mar Vista Patch was on hand to witness the fairly simple procedure on Venice Boulevard between Centinela and Wasatch avenues, Monday afternoon.

The entire transfer only took several minutes and consisted of a  municipal worker simply unscrewing the top of the old coin meters, replacing them with the new smart meters and initializing the devices.
