What to Do in Venice This Weekend

It's the weekend. Looking for something to do? You've come to the right place.

Looking for a way to while away the hours this weekend? Here's a list of some of the stuff going on in Venice, Dec. 2 - Dec. 4.

Friday, Dec. 2

It's First Friday time again in Venice. See you later November, it's December now. Enjoy the extended hours at art galleries on Abbot Kinney Boulevard and, of course, the food trucks. We'll be at the G2 Gallery checking out their Holiday Festival and the photography of Nathanial Havholm, who shot images of the horizon from the Venice Pier for over a year.

The Friends of the Venice Library are having their last used book sale of the year from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 501 S. Venice Blvd. They'll have a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction and most books will be sold for only $1. Proceeds go direct to the Venice Library for new books and DVDs for the permanent collection, library programs and other supplies. Stock up on your winter reading or pick up some presents, all while helping the library.

Sun., Dec. 4

The 2011 Abbot Kinney Holiday Stroll will feature a Kid Wonderland with snow and sledding for children at the parking lot of The Brig. The event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. also will feature carolers and special events at shops and galleries.

The inaugural Venice Dog Circus & Parade will start at noon at Robin's Sculpture Garden and will feature dog and human costume making, a circus at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. and a parade at 2:30 p.m. Bring you canine buddies to join in on the fun.

Editor's Note: We highlight weekend things to do that are mostly found in our Events calendar. If you'd like to add your own event to the calendar, you can go right here. It's FREE.
