Volunteer Training (Creative writers, artists, role models needed!)

826LA is a non-profit writing and tutoring center located in the SPARC building.

We provide completely free writing and tutoring programs for students, teachers, and schools in our community, programs which rely on the help and altruism of our amazing group of volunteers.

We've been in Venice for nearly seven years, and whether we're writing a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book in the morning, working on algebra homework in the afternoon, or creating a student-written newspaper in the evenings, we exist to give 6-to-18-year-olds a safe, productive, encouraging, and creative environment in which to explore writing, reading, and everything in-between.

Join us on Saturday for Volunteering 101, a comprehensive training program to get you involved with 826LA. We'll run through the history of our organization, explain all of our programs and ways for you to get involved, and get you all set up to start volunteering with some truly terrific students.

Volunteering 101 is free, though we do ask you to consider making a tax-deductible donation of $6-$10 to cover your background check fee. If you're interested in attending Volunteering 101, please email Lauren Humphrey (laurenhumphrey@826LA.org) or give us a call in the office (310-305-8418).
