Venice Art Crawl Brings the Party with Special Guest Shepard Fairey

The monthly event is back Thursday night for its 11th celebration of everything art.

Just one month shy of a year old, the Venice Art Crawl has truly hit its stride.

On Thursday, restaurants, galleries and street corners will host art shows from about 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. (depending on the venue), for locals to get out and enjoy the best of Venice artists.

Dogtown Artists United has also brought in a special guest for the evening: Shepard Fairey, an L.A.-based street and print artist, is doing a mural at the 811 pop-up (811 Ocean Front Walk).

Of course, all of the usual suspects will be out and about as well. Venice Paparazzi will be at Hotel Erwin doing a free "I AM ART!" photo session. Pose behind a gold or silver frame and be the art! Madpropsart will also be at the hotel from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., with a DJ, and across from the hotel, at the old gas station, there will be yet another pop-up art show!

Perennial party group Momentum vacated its old place on Market Street a couple of months ago, but you can find it (along with an awesome mural by Isabelle Alford-Lago) at 904 Pacific Ave., at the corner of Brooks. For July, it is showing works by Javiera Estrada, Julie Orr and Francesco Quintana, with music by The Trees, DJ LYF and Jung Hollywood.

More work by local Alford-Lago will be at James' Beach.

For more info, including dozens of other events and venues, check out the Venice Art Crawl's website, and see you there (everywhere, around)!

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.

Thank you, David, for your lucid and edifying dissertation on Passover. You just about said itRead More all...I would only add that if people get a chance during the holiday to view the movie version of Fiddler On The Roof they will get a truly inspiring feeling for what it meant - and means - to be Jewish.
