West 4th Jane Photography Show to Support Venice Arts

This week's "Pic" features Lexie Cole and David Zentz, whose photography exhibit on Africa and Haiti will benefit a youth program.

Lexie Cole and David Zentz are displaying photographs documenting their individual trips to Africa and Haiti at West 4th Jane beginning this week. A portion of the show's proceeds will benefit the Venice Arts youth program.

Cole spent four months of her college career in Madagascar, living with a local family. Her photos document the people and the vibrant clothes they wear. Cole's time there was a catalyst for becoming a professional photographer.

Zentz traveled to Haiti in 2008, and the country was struggling even then, before the massive earthquake hit in 2010. His storytelling photography captures both the beauty and hardships of a struggling, yet proud country.

Venice Arts will receive 10 percent of the proceeds from the show to benefit its youth program, helping children of low-income families get involved creatively in the arts.

The exhibit began with an opening reception Tuesday and will be up for three months. West 4th Jane is located at 1432-A 4th St. in Santa Monica.
