Police Friday afternoon surrounded a Mar Vista apartment investigating a possible link to the Santa Monica shootings that left seven dead including the shooter, but later said it proved to be a false alarm.
Yellow police tape surrounded the dwelling in the 3500 block of Centinela, causing a lot of attention shortly after 5 p.m. And by 5:20 p.m., at the corner of Centinela and Palms, people were trying to cross the yellow tape to get to their homes. But LAPD officers were making them wait.
Soon after, the Los Angeles Fire Dept. pulled away from the scene, and an LAPD captain said it had all been a false alarm.
