Coastal Cleanup Day is an international event with more than 60 countries around the world participating, making it one of the largest volunteer efforts on the planet.
Last year, over 67,000 volunteers from California removed 676,768 pounds of trash and 115,773 pounds of recyclable waste.
On Saturday, thousands of Californians will again head down to their local beaches and inland waterways for the 28th Coastal Cleanup Day, on a mission to clear the sand and water of harmful and unsightly pollution.
Two locations in Venice: Venice Beach Pier and Venice Beach at Rose Avenue. Meet at 9 a.m.
