7-Eleven Day Means Free Slurpees for All

The convenience store will celebrates its 7-11 birthday Wednesday by giving away its signature frozen drinks for free.

7-Eleven Day is today, and that means one thing—free Slurpees for everyone!

The convenience store chain is celebrating its birthday as it does every year, by giving away one free 7.11-ounce Slurpee to each customer who asks anytime between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.

There's a 7-11 store in Venice at 1516 Lincoln Blvd., one in Marina Del Rey at 4010 Lincoln Blvd and one in Mar Vista at 12403 Venice Blvd.

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the company and the 45th anniversary of the creation of the Slurpee itself.

“This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year’s offer by 2 million," said Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and CEO, in a media release on the company's Web site.

The company has also created downloadable birthday attire—tiny bowties, hair bows and party hats—for folks who want to dress for the occasion.

If you've got your heart set on a free icy drink, don't wait too long to stop by; the offer is good only as long as supplies last.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
