Dining Out to Ring in the New Year

Area restaurants want to help you toast in 2013.

In addition to being a popular day to party, New Year’s Eve is also a busy time for local restaurants. Many of them will offer special menus or other special offerings this year on New Year’s Eve.

Check out these restaurants that are planning something different to help ring in the New Year.

Venice

  • The Tasting Kitchen

This restaurant will offer a four-course prix fixe menu which will include smoked tomato soup, tea sandwiches, caviar, pink snapper, beef brasato and vegetarian options as well as hot chocolate pudding, toasted hazelnut ice cream and a “prosecco sundae” for dessert.

  • Primitivo

This bistro will have early seating beginning at 5:30 p.m. and late seating at 8:30 p.m. There will also be a small, special menu that will include rib-eye steak and Atlantic strip bass. Patrons who make reservations for the late seating will receive champagne and a chance to sing along with the staff at midnight.

  • Hinano Café

The café will open for its usual hours from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. on New Year’s Eve, but will offer party hats and complimentary champagne in time to bring in the new year. The band, Seagull, is also scheduled to perform beginning at 8 p.m.

Piccolo Restaurant

Chef Roberto will offer a special six-course meal for New Year's Eve featuring a variety of menu items of his choosing from the standard menu selections. There will be three dinner seatings at 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. A live jazz band will also help create a festive atmosphere.

Price: First seating, $80; second seating, $100.

Marina del Rey

  • Jer-Ne Restaurant

Located at the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey, this restaurant will be serving a special New Year’s Eve menu with appetizer and entrée choices, including: celery soup, quail, potato cakes, rack of lamb or short ribs and choice of dessert.

Price: $120 per person. Reservations are recommended.

  • The Warehouse

Overlooking the Marina, this long-standing establishment will offer its standard fare which includes a variety of seafood as well as bacon-wrapped filet mignon and porterhouse chop. For people who just want to party, there will be a band, Higher Ground, on hand to perform disco music for a $25 cover charge that includes champagne and party favors.

  • Le Cellier Wine and Bar

This restaurant will offer a New Year’s menu that kicks off with a champagne cocktail infused with lychee. Barbecue duck, garlic lobster or grilled medallion of beef filet are among the entrée choices with a hazelnut cake with hot chocolate and wild berries for dessert.

Price: $55.

  • The Cheesecake Factory

This well-known chain will feature its regular menu on New Year’s Eve but will also offer diners party favors and a champagne toast at the stroke of midnight.

  • Cafe Del Rey

This restaurant will have two dinner seatings on New Year’s Eve with the first one beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the second at 8 p.m. A special dinner menu will be featured that includes oyster and wild mushroom agnolotti appetizers as well as duck confit, filet mignon, scallops and truffle risotto. There will also be a special champagne toast at midnight.

Price: First seating, $65. Second seating, $95.
