Police Arrest Burglary Suspect

The suspect is now in police custody after climbing to the top of a building after a police chase.

A burglary suspect who was biding time on the roof of a residential building in Venice trying to evade police is now in custody, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Sara Faden.

The suspect was first spotted near Lincoln Boulevard and Lake Street around 6 a.m., No said.

"The suspect worked his way up to the roof and is now just waiting," No said.

Multiple police officers from the LAPD Pacific Division and SWAT officers responded to the apartment building which is in the 600 block of Sixth Avenue near the intersection of Sunset Avenue, according to LAPD Officer Richard French.

Police evacuated the residents of the building, French said.

The suspect was arrested about three hours after the incident began.
