Dog Found in Mar Vista near Windward School

The dog was roaming around for several days before being captured by animal services.

A pit bull terrier that has been roaming around the Windward School area between Palms and Venice boulevards since Tuesday has been taken to the West L.A. shelter.

The lost dog stayed in the flood control canal for a few days this week and several Mar Vista residents have heard the dog howling at night. Locals have been feeding it at a home near the Windward School, but the dog ran back to the canal zone through a crack in the wire fence.

After residents alerted the West L.A. Animal Shelter, employees made a couple of trips to leash the dog and finally captured the terrier on Thursday and brought it to the shelter. The dog will be held until she can be placed in a permanent home.
