L.A. Leggers to Hold Run/Walk During CicLAvia to Honor Boston Bombing Victims

The nonprofit club will sponsor a 5K for runners in Venice and a 5-mile walk from Venice to the Culver City hub during this Sunday's CicLAvia event.

The local non-profit walking and running club L.A. Leggers – some of whom ran Monday’s Boston Marathon – will hold a 5K tribute run for victims of the Boston bombings this Sun. April 21, during CicLAvia.

The 5K will begin at 10 a.m. at Windward Circle in Venice and will continue to Walgrove Avenue and back. The group will also sponsor a 5-mile walk to the Culver City Hub, with a return walk to Venice at 1 p.m.

Participants are being asked to dress in Boston gear or to wear a shirt or jersey representing their club or favorite marathon and to arrive at the tent at Windward Circle at 9:45 a.m.

Organizers will hand out blue and yellow balloons (the colors of the Boston Marathon) for walkers, runner and cyclists at the Windward Circle tent.

Those who will be on bikes for CicLAvia and still want to take part in the 5k on foot can park and lock their bikes near the Leggers tent in front of the Post Office on Windward Circle (1601 Main St., Venice).

For those taking part in the 5-mile walk to Culver City for lunch, several Leggers mentors will be continuing on past Walgrove to the Culver City hub. They will make a return trip starting at 1 pm by the statue of Harry Culver in front of the Culver Hotel.
