Lightning Causes House Fire in Mar Vista

No injuries were reported and firefighters quickly put out the blaze.

A noninjury fire apparently sparked by lightning burned in the attic of a house in Mar Vista this morning before it was extinguished.

The fire at the single-story home at 3445 S. Moore St. was reported at 1:08 a.m. and knocked down by 32 firefighters 15 minutes later, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

An investigation was under way to determine the cause of the blaze, but by all appearances, the the culprit is the cold Pacific storm that swept into the region Thursday and was expected to glide off to the east later today.

The fire was preceded by what sounded like a thunderclap, Humphrey said. And a neighbor said he saw a lightning bolt strike the house and spark the blaze, a news photographer reported from the scene.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.

Thank you, David, for your lucid and edifying dissertation on Passover. You just about said itRead More all...I would only add that if people get a chance during the holiday to view the movie version of Fiddler On The Roof they will get a truly inspiring feeling for what it meant - and means - to be Jewish.
