MVCC Invites Nominations for At-Large Vacancy

The Neighborhood Council will accept nominations until Jan. 21.

The Mar Vista Community Council is seeking to fill an open seat for an At-Large vacancy, created by the . Olson resigned from the council last month in part over a disagreement over how to fill another vacancy on the board.

At the December meeting, , one for a Zone 4 director, and one for an At-Large seat. Michael Millman is the new Zone 4 director and Yvette Molinaro for the At-Large seat.
 
According to the MVCC announcement, “All stakeholders interested in being considered for the appointment may submit a Statement of Candidacy to Chair Sharon Commins, smcommins@marvista.org no later than January 21, 2012. Candidates will be asked to present a brief statement to the Board at the February 2012 regular meeting preceding the appointment.”

Commins said people should consider serving on the board, “to help make your community a great place to live, work and play.” The responsibilities, she said, are “service,” being “good listeners, creative problem solvers and tireless advocates for the community.” The pay, she said is “zero,” but the reward is “knowing you make a positive contribution to the quality of life in your community.”
