Outage in Venice Leaves 1,800 Without Power

Power lines are reported down in the 2200 block of Lincoln Boulevard as the L.A. Department of Water and Power works to restore electricity.

A transformer fire led to downed power lines on Lincoln Boulevard in Venice on Thursday night and left about 1,800 customers without power, officials said.

The outage occurred about 9:28 p.m. and the cause was not immediately known, said Terry Schneider, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

"It seems there was some sort of transformer fire, but we don't know what caused that to happen," Schneider said.

Electrical wires were down in the 2200 block of Lincoln Boulevard, just north of Venice Boulevard, she said.

There was no estimate available on when power would be restored.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
