President Barack Obama is set to land at LAX between 4:30 and 5 p.m. today to attend , before heading to San Francisco tomorrow morning from LAX at 11:45 a.m. after taping an appearance of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
At a press conference at City Hall at 1 p.m. today, Councilman Bill Rosendahl said Obama will be taken by helicopter to the UCLA area as soon as he arrives at LAX. The move will help ease congestion on the already congested 405 freeway.
In an interview with KNX radio, Rosendahl said the president will travel by motorcade to the Hancock Park fundraisers and said there will be blockades from West Los Angeles to Hancock Park.
“Sunset, Santa Monica, Pico and Olympic [boulevards] are under consideration for the route to Hancock Park for the fundraiser[s],” Rosendahl told KNX radio. He also said he was told by the Secret Service that there will be no hard road closures.
“After the president clears a certain location, they will immediately open up the streets,” he said.
