School Experiment Gone Awry Draws Bomb Squad, Lock Down

A bomb squad determined the school was safe to re-enter.

A student suffered a minor injury Wednesday in a dry-ice science experiment gone awry at a Venice middle school, which was locked down while a bomb squad determined the area was safe.

The problem was reported about noon at Mark Twain Middle School, 2224 Walgrove Ave., according to the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The injured student was released to a parent, the LAUSD reported.

No other injuries were reported, and the lockdown was lifted after about 90 minutes.
