Brennan's on Admiralty in Marina del Rey is hosting a fundraiser for One Love Generation on Wednesday night, and organizers are looking for businesses to donate date nights and for Westside singles who are willing to go up on the auction block! (Also: bidders).
The party gets started at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a special night of turtle racing. "Rumor has it Ron Jeremy is taking his turtle out (get your mind out of the gutter) for the night and racing it at the auction. That means you HAVE to come. If only to see that ... allegedly," organizers wrote on the event page. Cover is $10, and all the proceeds go to a very worthy cause.
Assemblywoman Betsy Butler's AB 201 passed the state Senate last week with a vote of 37 to 0 and was sent to Gov. Jerry Brown to sign or veto. The bill would establish Veterans’ Courts in California and provide guidelines for implementation. A Veteran’s Court is based on the successful drug court model, which works with organizations that deal with mental health and addiction issues.
"Our current court system is not equipped to address the unique needs of veterans struggling with addiction and mental illness. AB 201 allows those individuals who have honorably served our country get the assistance they need and deserve," Butler said in a press release.
