  • The Neighbors for Smart Rail community group—composed of Westwood and Cheviot Hills homeowners—sought a stay on construction for Metro's light rail Culver City-Santa Monica Expo Line and claims that the potential impacts on its neighborhood were never properly studied.
  • The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said it wasn't sure what caused the power outage that left more than 1,500 of its Westwood customers without power on Monday afternoon. Were you affected by the outage? Tell us in the comments section below.
  • Residents of Pacific Palisades were likely guarding their jewelry and wallets after West Los Angeles police warned of a string of recent related burglaries and thefts.
  • A HazMat team on Wednesday morning was called to the Albertsons grocery store at 2627 Lincoln Blvd. in Santa Monica after receiving a 911 call about radioactive medical waste in a dumpster.
  • A lifeguard SUV struck a woman who was exercising on Bora Bora Way in Marnia del Rey on Friday morning. The vehicle was responding to a call of a distressed plane. The call turned out to be a false alarm.
