Venice Eco-Tour Set for Sunday

The event is part of a series in tours of Los Angeles neighborhoods to discover the city's culture and history.

A city-wide event this weekend will highlight L.A.’s many neighborhoods through cultural walking tours, including one in Venice.

The free event called “Festival of Neighborhoods” is now in its second year and will spotlight dozens of areas on Sunday. Participants will discover historical buildings, culinary delights and unique shops.

In Venice, local residents will take people on a walking tour to discover the indigenous people of the Westside, learning traditional coastal basket making and natural medicine, as well as Venice’s local flora and fauna.

The tour meets at the Cow’s End, located at 34 Washington Blvd. at 12 p.m. on Sunday for the 2-hour tour.

Other tours include: Byzantine Latino Quarter, Eagle Rock, Highland Park, Koreatown, Little Ethiopia, North Hollywood (aka NoHo), South L.A. and the Southern California Library.

To sign up for a free tour, please RSVP to L.A. Commons.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
