Photos: Mar Vista Community Fall Festival

Thousands enjoyed good food, community entertainment, arts and crafts booths and activities for kids on Saturday at this year's festival.

The community couldn't have asked for a better day. The sun shone on Saturday and thousands turned out to drink root beer floats; eat candy apples; have their photos taken in the pumpkin patch; get up close and personal with pet iguanas and be entertained by a slew of performers on the main stage at the

Young and old turned out for the event. People came with their kids and their dogs. Some attendees even brought their own chairs to sit on (although the festival provided plenty for everyone). Others sat on blankets in the grassy area, or plopped themselves down on the Mar Vista Park benches. Between the bouncy castles, the silent auction, the booths selling everything from jewelery to recycled aprons and bags and Councilman Bill Rosendahl honoring Mar Vista Farmers' Market Manager Diana Rodgers, there was more than enough to keep everyone happy.

The Mar Vista Community Council, along with a hardworking bunch of volunteers pulled out all the stops to ensure that everyone had a good time. Everywhere you turned there were volunteers wearing Fall Festival T-shirts, willing to answer any questions.

MVCC Chairman Albert Olson, together with Green Committee Members Sherri Akers and Jeanne Kuntz were all on hand to greet festival goers and were beaming from ear to ear.

were all smiles as they made dozens of candy apples for people at the Whole Foods booth, and Christy Wilhelmi (aka the Gardenerd), looked rather fetching in a poodle skirt as she manned the recycling Halloween costume swap booth.

Inside the auditorium there were a slew of great auction items to bid on, and  proceeds will go to helping upgrade the park's facilities.
