VNC to Allocate Community Grants, Consider Later Nights at Danny's

The Venice Neighborhood Council has a full agenda for Tuesday night's meeting.

Tuesday night, the Venice Neighborhood Council board will meet at Westminster Avenue Elementary School at 7 p.m.

On the agenda are several items the Venice community has been interested in: 

Arturo Piña, from Councilman Bill Rosendahl's office, is going to be giving another update on the , which can no longer fund the center's management. (Item 6a.)

After , Community Improvement Funds are ready to be allocated. The board will approve the rankings and the funding amounts of the 2011-2012 Community Improvement Projects, which the Neighborhood Committee has already gone over. (Item 7.)

The board will consider a motion to support a modification to Danny's conditional use permit (CUP), which would allow the bar to stay open until 2 a.m. Townhouse Bar and the incoming Larry's, both across the street from Danny's, both have CUPs that allow business to continue until 2 a.m. The motion was venice patch is reporting that LUPC supported Danny's resolution by a vote of 5-0-1 at a Land Use and Planning Committee meeting earlier in the month. The VNC will also consider a motion that would record its opposition to "the L.A. Park Foundation’s plan to permit for-profit signage along Venice Beach’s Ocean Front Walk in return for donations to the foundation." The Park Foundation plans advertisements on the west side of the boardwalk, according to BanBillboardBlight.org. (Item 11a.)
