Weekend Planner: Get Out with Mar Vista Patch

Why Go:  The forecast calls for rain. A free family movie might be just the ticket to get the kids out for some fun on Friday night.

Why Go:  Heal the Bay’s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium will be celebrating its fourth annual Underwater Parks Day, and the implementation of Marine Protected Areas in Southern California. The marine science center will feature activities and presentations about the newly designated areas and give visitors the chance to meet many of the marine animals they safeguard. 

Price: $5 suggested donation, free for children 12 and under.

Where/When: Mar Vista Public Library, 12006 Venice Blvd., Sat., Jan. 21, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Why Go: The book sale will benefit the Friends of the Mar Vista Library. You never know what treasures you’ll find at this sale.

Price: Free 

Where/When: Venice Public Library, 501 S Venice Blvd, Venice, Sat., Jan. 21., 4:00 pm.

Why Go: A great yoga class for children, ages five and older and their parents. The class includes storytelling, breathing, stretching and fun.

Price: Free 

Where/When: 3826 Grand View Blvd, Sun., Jan. 22, 8:30 am – 2:00 pm.

Why Go: If you’re looking for advice about gardening, this is the place to go. UCCE LA County Master Gardeners will give you information on what to plant this time of year and answer questions about gardening problems. They’ll also be giving away free starter plants and or seeds. Price: Free
