The merchants of Abbot Kinney invite you to join them on the first Friday of every month for extended shopping hours. Come stroll down Abbot Kinney Boulevard and explore the ever expanding, eclectic mix of boutiques, restaurants and bars.

Why Go:
Joe’s Restaurant, on Abbot Kinney is presenting a monthly jazz series starting in February to coincide with the First Fridays’ Art Walks.
This week, Mohr Music will present the First Fridays Jazz Series at Joe’s that will feature instrumental and vocal artists, internationally recognized artists as well as great local talent, signed and unsigned, playing on the heated patio. The 2012 debut event features Venice-based, but internationally revered keys player John Beasley, along with virtuosic vocalist Dwight Trible celebrating the release of their new album Duality. The rhythm section on the gig will be Trevor Ware on bass and Dexter Story on drums.

Why Go: The reDiscover Center has all kinds of things that nobody wanted for you to explore your creativity, rediscover and make the kinds of things everyone will want. Come with the kids to construct something or join as a member (only $25/year) and shop at the warehouse for materials to take back to your home, studio or classroom.

Why Go:
Join the beekeepers rally at the Green Tent this week. Bring the kids, come in your black and yellow costumes,have your bee questions answered and show your support for urban beekeping.  Husband and wife team Rob and Chelsea McFarland started HoneyLove as a nonprofit conservation organization with a mission to protect the honeybees and inspire and educate new urban beekeepers. Come have your questioned answered, educate and entertain the entire family and find out how you can help save our vital bee populations!

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
