For immediate release

Contact: Francisco Letelier 310 403 7747 franlete@aol.com

After the success of last year’s overwhelming community response ARTBLOCK is presenting an expanded Venice ARTBLOCK Open Studios including over 60 artists, studios and special exhibits across Venice on Sunday May 4, 2014 from 11am-6 pm. The event is free to the public.

ARTBLOCK is an independent artist-run organization offering collectors and art lovers free access to established studios and emerging artistʼs spaces rarely open to the public. The route can be traveled by bus, pedi-cab, bike or on foot. ARTblock is a culturally diverse, multi disciplinary and inter-generational group of artists. The group is endorsed by a wide range of cultural and civic organizations, including The Office of City Councilman Mike Bonin, The Venice Neighborhood Council, The Social and Public Art Resource Center and The Mural Conservancy of Los Angeles. Most importantly they have popular support from the diverse local community of Venice. Since last years event Artblock artists have won worldwide photographic competitions, completed mural commissions, and taken part in International Art Fairs, Biennials, and exhibitions nationwide.

ARTBLOCK open studios are…an experience that reflects the bohemian soul that made -- and is working hard to preserve -- the Venice you know and love.” Shana Nys Dambrot LA Weekly

It's so great to … get to see inside the studios of artists that you may just know socially, or have heard of….What a treat to have them share so much of not just their art, but themselves. ARTBLOCK is excellent and free!” C.J. Gronner Blogtown

The

public can pick up a map at 4th Avenue and Sunset Avenue 90291 where many studios are centered or anywhere

along the route. Flags will mark participating studios.  Free parking is available at

Westminster Elementary School located at Abbott Kinney Blvd. and Westminster Ave

and at SPARC (The Social and Public Art Resource Center) at 685 Venice

Blvd.  The public is encouraged to

walk or ride the route on bike, however Shuttle buses will be available for

transport to all locations on the route. Along the route look for murals, live

art, readings, live music and opportunities to participate in public art. A

catalogue of Artblock Artists, designed by Michele Castagnetti, allows

participants to preview work or to design their route ahead of time.) http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/650936
