On February 14th, V-Day, CODEPINK LA is hosting a rise and dance procession from Santa Monica to Venice in support of the One Billion Rising campaign.
One Billion Rising is a global movement started by Eve Ensler to end the violence against women. One in three women will be raped or assaulted in their lifetimes, and with six billion people on the planet, that makes one billion women. The goal of February 14th is for one billion women and the men who love them to rise up and dance all over the world.
The participants will meet at Santa Monica Prominate, Broadway & 3rd. We'll practice our dance steps and dance up to Arizona and 3rd and back to 3rd and Broadway. We will then start dancing down Main Street to Venice, making a left at Abbot Kinney, turning right to the Windward Venice Circle, arriving around 2:00pm. The dancers will take public transportation back to their cars in Santa Monica.
